IMTM at the International Conference on Precision Medicine and the final STRIKE Scientific Meeting in Messina

Researchers from across Europe and beyond gathered in Messina from 2 to 4 July 2026 for the final scientific meeting of the STRIKE Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network, held alongside the International Conference on Precision Medicine at the University of Messina. The meeting provided an opportunity to celebrate the network’s achievements and to look ahead to the future of precision medicine.

Over three engaging days, participants shared ideas and discussed the latest advances in nanotherapeutics, translational oncology, liquid biopsy and cancer diagnostics. The event also highlighted the collaborations, training opportunities and scientific progress that have shaped STRIKE throughout the project.

The programme included keynote lectures and research presentations covering topics ranging from immune reprogramming and osteosarcoma therapeutics to innovative drug-delivery systems and the growing role of artificial intelligence in research and scholarly publishing. Sessions devoted to translational and interdisciplinary approaches in nanomedicine and cancer therapy gave early-stage researchers an excellent opportunity to present their work and exchange ideas with colleagues from a wide range of disciplines.

IMTM and Palacký University Olomouc were represented by doc. RNDr. Václav Ranc, PhD, and Sunčica Sukur, MSc. Sunčica presented a substantial part of her doctoral research on Synthesis and Characterisation of Magnetic Nanoplatforms as Active Drug Carriers, reflecting the clinically relevant and forward-looking science fostered by the STRIKE network.

Alongside the scientific programme, the meeting provided valuable opportunities to strengthen international partnerships and to reflect on the lasting legacy of the STRIKE consortium as it enters its final stage.
