Summer School within the STRIKE Project: Magnetic Nanocarriers - Synthesis, Functionalization, and Biomedical Applications

From May 26-28, 2025, early-stage researchers (ESRs) participating in the STRIKE project will attend the Summer School "Magnetic Nanocarriers - Synthesis, Functionalization, and Biomedical Applications" that will be held at the Regional Centre of Advanced Technologies and Materials (RCPTM) at Palacký University Olomouc.

During the event, ESRs will learn about the synthesis and applications of magnetic nanomaterials, carbon-based nanomaterials, and their derivatives. A key focus of the summer school will be the characterisation of these materials, with in-depth coverage of techniques such as Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), and molecular spectroscopy methods, including Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS), Tip-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (TERS), and Coherent Anti-Stokes Raman Spectroscopy (CARS).

The translational potential of this research will also be emphasised, with a particular focus on the biomedical applications of magnetic nanomaterials and the importance of considering toxicology during their development.

In addition to the lectures and workshops, ESRs will have the opportunity to observe some of these advanced techniques firsthand during a half-day visit to the Institute of Molecular and Translational Medicine.
