Keynote talks: Viktor Umansky on Immunosuppression in tumor microenvironment mediated by myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSC)

Biography
Prof. Dr. Viktor Umansky is a distinguished researcher renowned for his extensive work on immunosuppression within the tumor microenvironment, specifically focusing on myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs). He is currently based at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg and the Universitätsmedizin Mannheim, where he leads efforts to understand and combat tumor-related immunosuppression.

Prof. Umansky's research has significantly advanced the understanding of how MDSCs contribute to cancer progression, particularly in melanoma. His work involves using both animal models and patient samples to uncover the mechanisms by which MDSCs are activated and promote tumor growth. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers, highlighting various aspects of tumor-immune cell interactions and the potential for novel therapeutic strategies​
