Using novel anti-cancer agents in elucidation of DNA damage response (DDR) mechanisms and their role in onset of cancer
The thesis is centered on cellular responses, termed DNA damage response (DDR) to DNA double-strand breaks, presumably the most deleterious lesions affecting DNA. The aim of the thesis is to shed more light on certain mechanistic aspects of the DDR. To this end, several chemical inhibitors interfering with different key steps of the DDR are utilized. Apart from deciphering the underlying mechanisms, this approach might lead to new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.
