Development of a method for the sensitive and quantitative determination of hepcidin in human serum using LCMS.
Hepcidin, a 25 amino acid peptide, plays an important role in iron homeostasis. As such, it has potential as an indicator of any iron-related condition, such as anemia. My research focuses on the measurement of hepcidin in biological fluids to improve our understanding of iron-related disorders. A possible result of such studies could be the development of hepcidin as a tool for diagnosis and clinical management of such disorders.
