Schadich Ermin Ph.D.

I am a biomedical researcher with a solid background in medical biochemistry and cellular and molecular biology. I graduated medical school (MD, University of Sarajevo, BiH) but I continued my academic education with a  cross-bridge in science. I graduated BSc  (Hons) degree with a major in biochemistry at Lincoln University (New Zealand) in 1999. I graduated MSc and PhD degree in molecular and cellular biology at University of Canterbury (New Zealand), in 2002 and 2009, respectively. My research interest is on bioactive properties of natural products and novel compounds. So far, I worked with different series of amphibian peptides, phenylpropanoids, thiazolidines, thiazoles terpenes, cannabinoids and phenothiazines as well as with plant essential oils. These compounds and oils have a broad range of activity ie., antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer,  antibacterial, antiparasitic and antiviral activity.  My work at Institute of Molecular and Translational Medicine, is well presented in the five first author publications on phenylpropanoids, thiazolidines and thiazoles (https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Ermin-Schadich-2). My previous work on expression of pejk receptor genes,  crystal structure of bacterial haemoglobins and amphibian peptides is presented in the ten different first author publications ( https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=Y52HJYkAAAAJ&hl=en).  Since outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), my work is focused development of different measures against it.  I am also interested in antimalarial activity of novel compounds.
